‘Not to worry’ – continued
Sam’s sermon resonated with me on Sunday – I must confess they all have resonated since he joined us, but this week just ‘hit the spot’.
It has been a turbulent couple of weeks.
A turbulent couple of months.
In fact, a turbulent and unsettling few years. We have had Brexit, Covid, the war in Ukraine, ongoing fighting in various parts of the world, famine and poverty in many countries and now the ongoing economic ‘uncertainty’ in the UK and around the world.
On top of all of this we have our own individual concerns, issues and stresses.
Sometimes its hard not to worry. Hard not to get anxious, feel worried and agitated. BUT, we reflect on what Sam said (and for any of you who missed the sermon, do watch it). Sam said, do not worry because Jesus tells us not to worry.
Jesus came to take away not only our sin but to give us eternal peace.
Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
